Okay slightly belated post about my two-piece! I've been seeing so many of these around but the problem is, I hate having the same thing other people have. So I decided to make one myself, thus totally eliminating any chance of an outfit match :) Phew!

When my friend Taz kindly gave me one of her nan's old sarees to make something with, it took me a while to decide what to do with it. Because I'd never worked with silk I didn't want to risk making something complicated! So decided on cushion covers :) Take a look!

Ya know what I'm loving? Spying a cute little number like this one from Motel and being able to recreate it in whatever fabric I like!




 I opted for this great 50s style pattern I found in Material Magic in Leicester centre for £14!

Whipped this up the other day. I meant to make a collar for it too but got too excited to wear it before I managed to get it done! It's a lot less complicated than the last one so took a lot less time.

I used the same method as the tie-dye shirt dress in that I used a dress I already had to make the pieces. Chopped 'em out of the fabric and there they are!

Oh yes, the tie-dye dress is here! As my first proper dress-making attempt I must say I am pleasantly surprised (shocked and amazed) at how well it has turned out. And it's ready just in time for the warm Spring that has kindly landed itself upon us. Here's how I did it :)

Okay so let's start this thing with the fabric adventure embarked upon last week! This one was pretty simple and for a first tie-dye attempt I'm pretty happy with the result.

Materials involved

• Dylons 'jeans blue' dye
• White cotton fabric
• Elastic bands

This was all I needed for the tie-dye process. Here we go!

 I wanted vertical stripes so rolled the fabric vertically (top to bottom rather than side to side), then  secure bands with spacing to your discretion!
Dye according to pack instruction.

The result?

Pretty pleased indeed! :) I then hemmed the top and bottom and ironed smooth. Attached them to my blinds (in an admittedly haphazard manner - hence the lack of close up shot!) and voila! I have a snazzy new curtain. What d'ya reckon?

(I also have a green dye which I decided not to use in the end - the words tie-dye babydoll dress spring to mind. Watch this space!)
